Well it looks like GameTank have had there work cut out for them and have had to set back the release date to 2009. Its nice of them to update thereĀ Guitar Rising website, but it would have been even better to let the people who signed up to the newsletter know that aswell. Well anyway, i guess that gives them a whole 12 months to get it within the deadline. Hopefully it will be sooner rather than later. Fingers crossed eh!!
As there is still no news about guitar rising, apart from the little rumours that it is vapourware I thought i’d tell you about my weekend in Munich.
Just got back to work after an amazing weekend, seeing Coldplay finish there tour of Germany in the Olympic Hall. What can a say, regardless of whether you are a Coldplay fan or not, it was definately a great experiance. Brilliant backdrops, cool effects and overall a great concert. Only just a couple of days after all the videos are already being streamed on youtube. These are just a couple of my favorite, and its not just because it was where i was standing either.
Fix You
The Hardest Part
You can see lots more videos of this concert on youtube but , thats just a idea of what it was like.
Of course it wouldn’t be right to go to munich at this time of year without visiting the Munich Oktoberfest. Despite arriving at about 11 in the morning, all tents were already full and tens of thousands of people had already started drinking. So if you’re thinking about visiting oktoberfest, the best advice I give is…Book a Table, or you will have no chance of getting in there. Although, as an alternative to Oktoberfest you can always go into the city centre and visit the local brewery which just so happens to be opposite the “Hard Rock Cafe”. The hard rock has a great atmosphere and is a really cool place for a few beers ( or 5/6) with a huge mixture of nationalities but for the evening festivities you really need to jump in a taxi and get yourself to “kuntzfabrik”….and small area of bars and clubs that are a hell of a lot of fun.
well I apologise if this has turned into a bit of a munich review, but if you’ve been already then you will know its a fantastic city and if you haven’t, well you need to get your ass down there and experiance some proper german culture. I guarantee you’ll love it!!!
Last night I finally got around to getting the Guitar Pro software, so I could download tabs from Ultimate-guitar.com and learn them easily through Guitar pro. Apart from this software sucking up nearly every bit of my PC’s power i was really impressed with it….and that got me thinking back to the subject of importing tabs onto Guitar Rising.
Through Guitar Pro you can learn any part of the song with any instrument, provided that its included in the tab that you’ve just downloaded (Check it out, its a really good learning tool!!). Couldn’t this technology be used in guitar rising, allowing you to be able to choose between guitar or bass. Admitedly, Guitar Pro tabs might be a little sophisticated for gutiar rising at the moment, with its bends and hammers etc but if Guitar Rising and Guitar Pro could get together on this im sure it would be a worthwhile partnership.
By the way, still no news on whats happening on Guitar Rising at the moment. Hopefully something will come out soon though!!
Sorry for the lack of updates recently, apart from being really busy on other projects there doesnt actually seem to be any further news on the development of guitar rising but i promise you, as soon as something comes out i’ll let you know! With a bit of luck it will be soon, I’m as eager to hear about any further developments as you are.
There have been lots of speculation on what the 30 songs, included in guitar rising, are going to be. Wiki have listed 7 songs that have been recognised from the official guitar rising trailer and there have been a few more rumours of suspected songs that could be included. Here’s a current list of possible tracks found throughout various posts and forums:
“Automatic” - Stereo 360
“Certain words in certain times” - This Providence
“Green” - Telescope
“Its over” - Even the odd
“Mental” - k-Ration
“Miss mary jack” - Anything but joey
“On with the show” - Casey Maxwell
“Message in a bottle” - Police
“Mother” - Danzig
“The Hardest button to button” - The white stripes
“Enter Sandman” - Metallica
So there’s a possible 11 tracks that could be included. Currently gametank are negotiating music licenses with 3 top music producers, so its expected the quality and popularity of the tracks will be high.
What tracks would you like to see included in Guitar Rising? Please leave you comments to see which would be the most popular tracks of all!!
I’ve just found another video from GDC 2008 where Guitar Rising was shown to give a taster for whats to come.
This video shows a guy from Destructiod having a blast on Guitar Rising and playing along to the tune of “Enter Sandman” by Metallica. I don’t know what difficulty setting he had it on, looks a pretty easy one to me but he definitely wasn’t playing the main lead part. Either way, it looks really good fun and and the tabs definitely fit into the song really well.
Now, if these are the quality of songs that are going to be available on Guitar Rising then i really do think this game is gonna be a hit!
With the new “Guitar Rising” game by GameTank due out late 2008, i’m very excited with what it could bring. For those of you that don’t know about ( the few that is! ) “Guitar Rising” is basically very similar to “guitar hero” but on a PC and with one major difference. You use your own real guitar!!
Now everybody should know that although Guitar Rising is gonna be an amazing breakthrough with the whole musical interactive gaming collection theres no doubt there will be a few people who give it a bit of a grilling. I have already heard that advanced techniques such as bends, hammer-on/offs etc wont be implemented ( at least thats the rumour ) but hey, its the first of its kind and theres no doubt in my mind this will be added further down the line..I mean do you really start running before you can walk!
I for one think this game could have amazing potential and so many possibilities. At the moment there hasn’t been many details given on features within the game and this makes me wanna ask, will it have a multi-player option? Will it have online scoring system and will you be able to import tabs/songs into the game, so you can play your own favorite “Led Zepplin” or “guns ‘n’ roses” tracks.
This final question got me thinking, if they do have an import feature, wouldn’t it be cool to have one central place where everybody could share there tabs that they made for Guitar Rising and download them whenever they wanted. Sure you can get tabs from www.ultimateguitar.com and learn them from playing along or whatever but wouldn’t it be a whole lot more fun if you could download a tab, import it into Guitar Rising and learn it that way!
This is where www.guitarrisingtab.com comes in. This website will not only have the current tabs for the standard 30 songs supplied with Guitar Rising, it will allow people to upload there own tabs to share with other Guitar Rising fans. These tabs will be available for all to use and rate, in order that you can find the perfect tab for your favorite rocking song!
